What's Next?
Once your counseling session is completed, if you choose, your counselor can conduct a three-way telephone conversation with you and your mortgage servicer to help you begin the conversation about resolving your situation. Your counselor can provide critical data and background information which will assist the servicer in determining available options regarding modifications or changes to your mortgage agreement.
Will I Get Foreclosure Help?
The Homeowner’s HOPE™ Hotline provides foreclosure prevention counseling, guidance and financial education and offers tools to help you face your financial situation. Every situation is different and many factors determine what kind of help and which options are available to you. For example, in some situations, selling the home might be the best action to take.
Your own outcome will be based upon many factors, including:
- Whether or not you're behind on your mortgage at the time you call. Although you are free to call any time, we know based upon experience that the sooner you call, the more options are available.
- The type of mortgage that you have and the rules that pertain to it. Depending on the type, a variety of outcomes may be available.
- Your financial situation and other debt.
